|discussion=<p>Variety polyphyllus is known from the upper Clark Fork River valley of east-central Idaho (Lemhi County) and west-central Montana (Beaverhead, Deer Lodge, Granite, Jefferson, Madison, Missoula, Powell, and Silver Bow counties). Compared to <i></i></i>var.<i><i> nitidus</i>, it generally is taller and has relatively longer, narrower leaves, bracts, and calyx lobes.</p>
