|discussion=<p><i>Seymeria cassioides</i> is an obligate parasite of 11 pine species in the southeastern United States; it is also capable of growing on western pines and other conifers (W. F. Mann and L. J. Musselman 1980). Infestations of pine plantations are not common; in sufficient numbers, <i>S. cassioides</i> may produce chlorosis and mortality in cultivated <i>Pinus elliottii</i> and <i>P. taeda</i> (H. E. Grelen and Mann 1973).</p>
