Distal cauline leaves sessile, sometimes connate-perfoliate. Thyrses: peduncles and pedicels glandular-pubescent. Flowers: calyx lobes glandular-pubescent; corolla tube 7–8 mm; pollen sacs 1.9–2.1 mm.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jul(–Aug).
Habitat: Washes, roadsides, canyons, pinyon-juniper and sagebrush-juniper woodlands.
Elevation: 1000–1400 m.

Discussion

Variety macranthus has been documented in Churchill, Nye, and Pershing counties.
