Petals purple, with or without dark purple band distal to gland. Capsules thick in cross section.


Phenology: Flowering late spring–mid summer.
Habitat: Dry plains, slopes, sagebrush scrub, pine forests, usually in volcanic soil
Elevation: 300–2700 m
