Annuals, 3–20(–40+) cm. Leaf lobes linear, 5–25 × 0.5–1(–2) mm. Peduncles 2–20(–35+) cm. Calyculi of (1–)5–8 linear bractlets (1–)3–8+ mm. Phyllaries (3–)8+, ± ovate to obovate, 6–10(–12+) mm. Ray florets (3–)8+; laminae (5–)12–20+ mm. Disc florets (5–)50–100+; corollas 2–4.5 mm. Paleae basally adnate to and falling with disc cypselae. Ray cypselae ± oblong, 5–6 mm. Disc cypselae oblanceolate to ± oblong, 5–6(–7) mm; pappi 2–3 mm. 2n = 24.


Phenology: Flowering Feb–Jun.
Habitat: Openings in chaparral, desert scrub, yellow-pine forests
Elevation: 100–1800 m
