Flowering stems decumbent to arcuate-ascending, (3–)5–12 cm. Leaves of basal stems mostly 2-ranked; blade lanceolate to oblanceolate. Inner sepals elliptic-ovate, apex subacute. Capsules broadly ellipsoid, shorter than calyx.
Phenology: Flowering summer; fruiting late summer–fall.
Habitat: Sandy lakeshores, open pine woodlands
Elevation: 500–600 m
Discussion
Of conservation concern.
Variety depauperata is endemic to the Lake Athabasca sand dunes.
