Cauline leaf blades oblanceolate to ovate or elliptic. Corollas dark blue or violet, glabrous or sparsely white-villous internally abaxially.
Phenology: Flowering May–Jun.
Habitat: Rocky, gravelly, or sandy soils, shortgrass prairies, foothills.
Elevation: 1400–1700 m.
Discussion
Variety versicolor is known from the Arkansas River drainage in south-central Colorado in Baca, Fremont, Las Animas, Otero, and Pueblo counties.
