Discussion

Varieties 3 (1 in the flora).

Stranvaesia davidiana is cultivated in California and was reported by Eric Walther to be commonly spontaneous in the Strybing Arboretum in Golden Gate Park (J. T. Howell et al. 1958), but current accounts of the California flora have not included the species as naturalized in that state; California botanists believe that it is not established there. The species is now considered naturalized in Washington, as well as in Hawaii and New Zealand (P. F. Zika 2002b).
