Subshrubs or shrubs, 20–60+ cm; internodes mostly 10–30 mm. Leaf blades mostly filiform, 10–40 × 1–2 mm. Phyllaries 7–10, oblanceolate to linear, 6–10 mm. Florets mostly 40–80+; corollas yellow, 5–8 mm. Cypselae 3.5–5.5 mm; pappi: longer bristles 6–7.5 mm. 2n = 24.


Phenology: Flowering spring–fall.
Habitat: Sandy, gravelly, and rocky sites, calcareous or igneous soils, with desert scrub
Elevation: 500–1400 m
