Annuals, 6–15 cm, glandular-pubescent, pilose, and furfuraceous. Stems erect and spreading. Leaf blades rounded-rhombic, 7–14 × 6–14 mm, margins entire (faces, at least abaxial, with straight, multicellular hairs 2–3+ mm). Peduncles 4–20 mm. Involucres narrowly cylindric, 7–9 mm. Phyllaries ca. 13, outer persistent, 5, lanceolate, tips erect, inner falling, 8, lance-linear, tips erect. Florets 9–14; corollas yellow, often purplish at tips, ca. 8 mm. Cypselae 4–5 mm; pappi of ca. 150 subequal bristles in 2–4 series, 6–7 mm. 2n = 34.


Phenology: Flowering sporadically following rains.
Habitat: Reddish, alkaline soils
Elevation: 500–1400 m
