Seta 0.5–2.7 cm. Capsule inclined, rarely erect, arcuate (sometimes straight), (0.5–)1–2(–2.5) mm. Spores 9–16 µm.
Phenology: Capsule maturity date not determined.
Habitat: Sandy or sometimes clay soil, open, disturbed sites, roadside banks, trails, fields
Elevation: low to high elevations (30-2000 m)
Distribution
Alta., B.C., N.B., Nfld. and Labr. (Nfld.), Ont., Que., Yukon, Alaska, Calif., Idaho, Mich., Mont., Oreg., Wash., Europe, Asia.
