Seta 0.5–2.7 cm. Capsule inclined, rarely erect, arcuate (sometimes straight), (0.5–)1–2(–2.5) mm. Spores 9–16 µm.

Habitat: Sandy or sometimes clay soil, open, disturbed sites, roadside banks, trails, fields
Elevation: low to high elevations (30-2000 m)
